When The Baseball Furies decided to take a hiatus from their eight-year reign as punk rock champions, Odie, never one to settle down, kept writing and playing and decided to come up with a new band, his own band, that plays by his own rules and plays all his own songs. Thus, The Vilent Lovers Club was born. Odie wrote six songs and recruited a host of rockers to help him record them, Christian Mistreater and a couple of ex-Clone Defects. Two days in the studio doing manic 20-hour sessions and their self-titled record was born. Odie loyal to the label that birthed his career came immediately to Big Neck Records to release this hedonistic masterpiece.
Odie wanted to slip from the angry, punk rock world into a world that embodies sex appeal with rock right along side it. He created a sound that gives homage to The Modern Lovers and T. Rex, yet still is in a category all it’s own. To hear the VLC causes one to instantly crave intimate knowledge of the opposite sex standing near you, it causes your hormones to kick into overdrive as Odie’s sultry voice oozes lyrics that drive you literally insane, maybe with desire? This is the sexiest garage rock album ever released.
