Cheap Freaks
Cheap Freaks is retro garage punk from another dimension. As one reviewer put it, “There is so much intensity and badassery condensed in this woefully short record. Surf rock guitar flying in from outer space, heating up and melting into organs and tambourine. It crash lands in your ears and all of a sudden you’re dancing along.” Formed in 2009, Cheap freaks recorded their debut LP “Bury Them All” in both Berlin with Real Junk producer Tom Schwoll, and in Dublin with Sean Coleman at Qube Studios. The U.S. release of “Bury them All” (LP and CD) scheduled for mid 2012.
Blogger Barry Gruff praised: “On listening to “Bury Them All” you get the feeling you’re rifling through a record collection of the finer moments of rock n’ roll. It channels inspiration from a host of blues, country, classic rock, punk and indie stalwarts into their very own muddied sound through a haze of powerful vocals and guitar riffs…What makes this collection of garage rock jams stand out is the execution, the exceptional creative talents continually shine through the haze of raucous fury.”
Since forming, the band has built a dedicated European following, toured Germany, opened for the likes of the Buzzcocks, Jay Reatard, The Black Angels and Beady Eye on their recent Irish tour. The European release of “Bury Them All” coincided with a European tour in September 2011 with stops in Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
