Following close on the heels of their debut 7″ on Perpetrator Records, Detroit’s Red Red Red unleashes a monster of an album. This three-piece wrecking ball features Jon Lemay (former drummer of Easy Action), Jason Dailidonis on bass and Ryan Sabatis, who played drums in the Piranhas but takes the helm at guitar and singing for Red Red Red. These three push the Detroit sound–if such a thing exists–to new limits. Sure, you get a heavy does of the Easy Action thunder, as you’d expect with Lemay on drums. And yes, Sabatis brings some of that Pirahnas, uh….charm to the band, particular as heard on their earlier records. These guys also manage to work in wonkings reminiscent of Human Eye, as well as the thuggish snarling of the Pagans and, if you can believe it, the killer craftsmanship of the Scientists. Some discerning listeners might pick up a hint of what you might call “proto punk” riffing. They pack all this and more into each song. The result is an album full of tightly wound, explosive, two-minute time bombs. Purchase HERE.
